You're right, Alana, our phones & dialing have gotten so fast, compared to the past! And yes, a rotary or push button phone, that doesn't rely on any electricity, will keep working through a power outage.

I helped out at a garage sale at a community hall this eekend with an old wall mounted rotary phone. When I used it, I couldn't believe how long it took to dial our number. It took FOREVER! And I grew up with the things, too.

PS__I have heard it is recommended that you have a dial telephone in case the power goes out.

Hey, this is awesome! I, like the rest of you, detest the wires from tv and sound system. One question though, where is the subwoofer now, ours is pretty massive & I don't think I'd be able to store it in a cabinet without it's legs solid on the ground...but I'd love to do something similar (when I really mean my husband, ha ha).

This is so cool--I love the doors that look like drawers. We've got a similar nook in our family room (which was completely filled by a massiveTV when we first toured the house, something that's never going to happen while we live here) and we've put an old art classroom storage thingy in it, but it's never felt quite right to me. Now I know why! And I think I now get to go on the lookout for a credenza... :-)
